xR-Skills-Lab
Mixed and virtual reality simulations for learning for health professionsCan simulated learning with the help of Virtual Reality (VR) glasses help nurses and other health professionals to acquire knowledge and skills during training? The research project „xR-Skills-Lab" focuses on this question.
„xR“ stands for technology which allow the user to enter a computer generated world (for example, with the help for special glasses). This can be a completely virtual experience or a mix out of the real environment and additional virtual elements.
Project description
The aim of the project was to study VR learning simulations within nursing and other health professions. In our simulations, nursing tasks could be learnt and practised on virtual patients without any risk. The study examined how to develop simulations which made learning as effective as possible.
Participants in the study entered a simulation with VR glasses and practiced nursing skills. In this project the skill of tracheostoma suctioning was used.
