Molecular Determinants of Zoonotic Viruses and Beyond
International Symposium27 February to 1 March, 2025
Dear colleagues and friends,
On behalf of the organizing committee, I am very pleased to announce the symposium "Molecular Determinants of Zoonotic Virus Infections and Beyond", which will take place from 27 February to 1 March, 2025, at the Institute of Virology in Freiburg, Germany.
Zoonotic viral infections are a constant threat to human populations. The molecular mechanisms that allow a zoonotic virus to cross the species barrier to humans are still poorly understood. In order to develop new measures to combat this threat, we need expert knowledge from different disciplines.
The aim of this two and a half day conference is to bring together national and international experts working on different aspects of zoonotic viruses to gain in-depth insights into the basic mechanisms of these infections. This symposium is open for all scientists at different career levels (group leaders, postdocs and PhD students). In order to facilitate a lively conference with extensive interactions and discussions, the number of participants is limited to 120, including speakers. We encourage to submit an abstract, which will be presented during the meeting in a dedicated poster session with all participants. Based on the submitted abstracts, 6 participants will be selected to give an oral presentation. In addition, they will receive a fellowship covering all expenses. Catering will be provided during the meeting, including a social evening with plenty of networking opportunities.
Sincerely yours,
Martin Schwemmle
