Dr. rer. nat. cand. Teresa Schiatti
Doctoral Researcher (Mechanobiology)Research Interests:
- Effects of the mechanical environment on cell-cell coupling
- Functional heterocellular interactions between cardiomyocytes and non-myocytes in the context of atrial fibrillation
- Integration of in vitro and in silico models of cardiac electro-mechanics
Brief CV:
Teresa received her BSc degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2018 from Padova University (Italy) and her MSc degree in Cell and Tissue Engineering in 2020 from Keele University (UK). During her Master's thesis, she contributed to the development of a physical model for integrating optoelectronic scaffolds with optogenetics to investigate their effects on human stem cell-derived cardiomyocyte functionality. In July 2020, she joined the Cell Biophysics group at the IEKM as a PhD candidate belonging to the Marie Curie PersonalizeAF network.
