About us
Our team is part of the Department of Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery. Our research focuses on gaining a better understanding of the electrophysiological effects of deep brain stimulation (DBS) in humans at both subcortical and cortical levels. We identify electrophysiological markers to improve current DBS strategies, and to contribute to the development of adaptive DBS systems. We focus both on neuropsychiatric symptoms (major depression disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder), and on motor symptoms (Parkinson’s Disease). For our research we use local field potentials, electrocorticography, and electroencephalography recordings. The methods and machine learning models adopted for signal analysis and brain signals decoding are largely inspired by advances in the Brain-Computer Interface field.
