Sarcoma Center
Dear patients!
There are many different types of sarcomas, and they can develop in every part of the body. Interdisciplinary treatment is therefore absolutely essential for this tumor disease. We review the cases of all of our patients at an interdisciplinary tumor board, in which specialists from the fields of hemato-oncology, radiotherapy, tumor surgery, plastic surgery, tumor orthopedics, pathology, and any other necessary disciplines take part and work closely together.

Sarcomas can develop anywhere in the body and cause a wide range of symptoms. Depending on the specific tissue diagnosis, localization, and extent of the tumor, treatment may include an operation, radiotherapy, or drug therapy. For many patients, a combination of these forms of treatment is necessary, for example an operation followed by radiotherapy. A correct diagnosis is critical for an optimal therapy. Our specialized sarcoma center involves various specialists in the processes of diagnosis and treatment.
We cooperate with:

In the treatment of sarcomas, we follow the latest scientific findings and the current guidelines of the Association of the Scientific Medical Societies in Germany. Members of our specialized sarcoma center coauthored the following guidelines:
- S2 Guidelines for Uterine Sarcomas (in German)
- S3 Guidelines for Soft-Tissue Sarcomas (in German)
In the case of certain sarcomas, a molecular characterization of the tumor tissue can reveal additional therapy options after the standard treatment options have been exhausted: Molecular Tumor Board (in German)

Trials
It is possible to participate in registries and clinical trials at our sarcoma center. This allows us to gain new insight on the foundations of sarcomas and the best possible treatments. Drug trials can also make it possible to receive treatment with promising new substances that have not yet been approved.
