Pediatric Oncology Center
and Center for Young Adults after CancerYou’re in Good Hands
We provide outpatient and inpatient treatment for children and adolescents with benign and malignant blood diseases and tumors. We look after our patients together with physicians from various disciplines, nurses, and other specialized personnel. In addition, we focus on maintaining the quality of life of our patients and their families as well as on ensuring educational and vocational development and supporting disease management. That’s why we work closely with parents.
2022, we have been certified as a pediatric oncology center with the recommendation of the German Cancer Society.
Requests from international patients regarding outpatient or inpatient treatment should be sent by e-mail to:

Leukemias are among the most common cancers in children. But the reason why a person suddenly develops leukemia is largely unknown. Leukemias are not inherited in the strict sense, but familial accumulations of leukemias also suggest genetic defects as the cause. Prof. Dr. Charlotte Niemeyer, former Medical Director of the Department of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at the University Medical Center Freiburg, and her team have contributed significantly to the discovery and description of congenital predispositions, the establishment of molecular diagnostics and the development of therapeutic concepts. On July 7, 2021 she provided insights into her research and it's significance for the therapy of affected individuals in the online lecture "Hereditary predisposition as a risk factor for leukemia" in the series "One Hour of Top Research" (in German).
