Freiburg Center for Rare Diseases
The Freiburg Center for Rare Diseases was founded at the beginning of 2009 by the Medical Faculty and the Medical Center - University of Freiburg. In the Freiburg Center for Rare Diseases doctors, scientists and nurses from eleven clinics and institutes of different disciplines work closely together on an interdisciplinary basis to ensure specialised, multi-professional and coordinated diagnostics and care of children and adults with rare diseases. The spectrum mainly includes diseases of the skin, muscles, skeletal system, kidneys, lungs, eyes, connective tissue, bone marrow or blood vessels, chronic immunodeficiencies as well as multi-organ syndromes. The concept of the center includes a lively interaction and close connection of clinical care with scientific research. High medical and nursing competence, innovative advanced diagnostics, state-of-the-art treatment methods and interdisciplinary cooperation are combined with internationally competitive research and clinical studies.
